NCA calling for food bank donations
NCA General Manager Karin Sheldrick explains that members can make donations in a number of ways.
“We collect non-perishable food items in bins and weigh the contents,” she says. “To make things fair, we also record monetary donations at fifty cents per pound. So every $50 donation equals 25 pounds of food.”
Members can participate in person at the lunch on December 6, by dropping off their donations at the NCA offices in the days leading up to the lunch, by delivering their donations to the venue on event day, or by having a bin of their own delivered to their company.
“This is quite the feel-good event, and our members love it,” says Sheldrick. “Every dollar we raise beyond our costs gets donated back to Community Care St. Catharines & Thorold, and the organization’s CEO, Betty-Lou Souter, will join us to explain a bit about the state of poverty in our region, and how these donations go to help people in need.”
Members can also opt for their donations to go to a handful of other local food banks.
