Watch: Priestly Demolition tears down Highway 401 overpass
Anyone living in or around Aberfoyle who was driving on Highway 401 on the evening of May 16 and 17 may have seen some serious traffic snarls.
That’s because crews from Priestly Demolition closed a small section of the highway to tear down the old Concession 7 bridge. Construction work was approved by the Ministry of Transportation to begin at 8 p.m. and the job had to be completed by 7 the following morning.
Priestly Demolition mobilized its crew to begin work at 8 p.m. sharp, and had the highway cleaned up and fully re-opened by 6 a.m.—an hour ahead of schedule. Between those times, the team mobilized two 60-tonne excavators, five 50-tonne excavators and two front-end loaders to clear away the more than 2,000 of concrete and debris created in the process.
