Orléans Health Hub reaches substantial completion
Construction of a 96,000-square foot health care facility in Ottawa’s east end has reached substantial completion.
Infrastructure Ontario (IO) announce the milestone on March 17. The project has been under construction since August 2019. It was built by EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare under a build-finance arrangement at a cost of nearly $60 million.
The facility, which is located at the corner of Mer-Bleue Road and Brian Coburn Boulevard, will bring together complementary services from several health and community service partner organizations in the Ottawa area. Services will include needs-based ambulatory programs, diagnostic imaging, geriatric support, mental health and wellness, and active rehabilitation.
The hub is the first of its kind in Ontario and is expected to drive community-based healthcare thinking across the province.
"The Orléans Health Hub is a great example of a smart infrastructure investment, being delivered through our P3 model," said Infrastructure Minister Laurie Scott at the project’s groundbreaking in 2019. "When complete the Orléans Health Hub will bring together key players and critical services, protecting what matters most for its community members."
This project is part of the government's commitment to invest $27 billion over the next 10 years in hospital infrastructure projects across Ontario.
"Having Hôpital Montfort in this new health hub is part of our commitment to improve the availability of health services in French across Ontario," said Francophone Affairs Minister Caroline Mulroney. "Improving access to health care for francophones will continue to be one of our priorities as we focus on the needs of patients while modernizing our public health care system."
With the achievement of this milestone, Hôpital Montfort, along with its partners, can begin preparing the space for opening in summer 2021.
