OnTrack Alliance earns ISO 44001 certification for Union Station project
The alliance leading construction of the Union Station Enhancement Project (USEP) has achieved ISO certification for its collaborative relationship management system.
The ONTrack Alliance, which is made up of Metrolinx, Infrastructure Ontario, Kiewit, Alberici, WSP Canada Inc. and MASS Electric, has become the first in Canada to achieve the ISO 44001:2017 collaborative business relationships certification. The team announced the achievement in early June.
“ISO 44001 represents a new generation of international standard with a focus on behaviours, organizational culture and management processes, providing a common platform to underpin sustainable business relationships and harness the benefits of collaborative working,” said David Hawkins, co-founder of the Institute for Collaborative Working.
By achieving this level of certification, ONTrack exceeded performance targets for the key result area of establishing a high performing team, which is an essential metric for measuring value and performance of USEP and future projects.
Construction work at the USEP will create the additional infrastructure that Toronto needs to deliver two-way, all-day service every 15 minutes throughout key segments of the GO rail corridor.
The work includes the addition of new platforms and tracks, a new concourse area below the new platforms, and additional elements including stormwater management systems and other building systems.
ONTrack Alliance was awarded the contract to perform the work at the end of January. The total cost of the project is targeted at $562 million, with work set to begin this year and wrap up in the third or fourth quarters of 2025.
