Minth Group announces plant construction in Windsor
Auto parts manufacturer Minth Group has announced plans to build a $300-million plant in Windsor.
The project marks the Taiwanese-Canadian owned company’s first manufacturing expansion in Canada, and is projected to bring 1,100 jobs to the local economy.
Spanning up to one million square feet, the multi-building facility will produce essential components for both conventional and electric vehicles including metal EV battery housing units and plastic exterior parts such as bumpers, grilles, and tailgates.
“Being a global company supporting global OEMs in many countries around the world, Ontario is a very important and exciting new addition to our portfolio of world-class manufacturing facilities,” said Minth Group Chief Strategy Officer William Chin. “Especially with our Canadian roots, we are very excited to announce this investment and we look forward to the strong support of the local community to help us produce a highly competitive and sustainable operation for the foreseeable future.”
Minth Group’s investment will be supported with a loan of up to $40 million through the Invest Ontario Fund.
The province anticipates the project will build additional domestic manufacturing capacity and provide automakers with more diversified sourcing options.
“Ontario’s auto manufacturing sector is a pillar of our economy, attracting billions of dollars of investment and creating tens of thousands of good-paying jobs for Ontario workers throughout our domestic electric vehicle supply chain,” said Economic Development Minister Vic Fedeli. “We’re pleased to welcome this investment from Minth here in Windsor, which demonstrates that despite U.S. tariffs and in the face of global uncertainty, Ontario remains a world-class destination for investment and manufacturing.”
Headquartered in Taipei City, Minth Group is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of exterior and structural automotive parts. It has over 25,000 employees and 77 facilities across 14 countries in Asia, Europe, and North America.
