Business groups have been urging the government to step in with binding arbitration or back-to-work legislation, warning of massive economic consequences that could cost an estimated $341 million per day. 

The projects are part of a larger program in which the federal government committed more than $74.6 million through its Union Training and Innovation Program.

The project will open new economic opportunities, create safer travelling conditions, and improve the safety and quality of life for seven First Nation communities north of Red Lake.

The province's next fixed election date isn't until June 2026, but Doug Ford has repeatedly refused to commit to that timeline during a news conference.

The province has made $400 million available for municipalities to build, maintain, and repair core assets such as municipal roads and bridges that will support the construction of new homes.
