The province has given Lakeridge Health $12 million in grants as it works on a masterplan for the Durham region, east of Toronto, for several health-care projects.

Publicly assisted universities will be exempt from the Planning Act, and be able to build more student housing faster.

The Ontario government has committed $59 million to the project. Its total cost is nearly $66 million.

Subsidiary company Dragados Canada is working Ottawa’s Confederation Line light rail expansion and the Eglinton Crosstown East Tunnels in Toronto.
