The city is looking to partner with non-profit organizations to build an affordable-housing project at 2025 University Avenue East.

The company was found to have failed to ensure that steel trusses were transported, placed or stored in a manner that would not tip, collapse or fall.

Business groups have been urging the government to step in with binding arbitration or back-to-work legislation, warning of massive economic consequences that could cost an estimated $341 million per day. 

The projects are part of a larger program in which the federal government committed more than $74.6 million through its Union Training and Innovation Program.

The project will open new economic opportunities, create safer travelling conditions, and improve the safety and quality of life for seven First Nation communities north of Red Lake.
