The 85-foot tunnel will house new transmission cables, replacing cables that have served Toronto's downtown core since the 1950s.

Canada's associate finance minister says it's going to be a "turbulent" year for the economy, but the government still has some spending room for big priorities including a new health-care deal with the provinces.

Funding from the National Trade Corridors Fund will allow the airport to improve and expand airfield capacity, and build a new road to reduce congestion.

Leading the work is local construction management firm Tom Jones Corporation. Construction should start this winter, and completion is targeted for 2025.
