Canada's vacancy rate fell to 1.9 per cent in 2022, its lowest point in 21 years, from 3.4 per cent in 2020 and 2021.

Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy says the vision he will set out Thursday afternoon will be a plan to attract jobs and build — keeping on a favourite theme of Premier Doug Ford's infrastructure-focused government.

The total value of core public infrastructure across the country at the end of 2020 was $2.1 trillion, with roads, bridges and tunnels accounting for more than half of that figure.

Ontario also plans to spend $75 million more over the next three years to support operations at those centres. It's part of the province's $1.5-billion skilled trades strategy, Ford announced Tuesday in Vaughan.

The project calls for upgrades to the Joint Task Force 2 special operations forces’ facilities at the Dwyer Hill Training Centre, including on 89 aging and temporary structures. EllisDon was awarded the construction management contract.
