Experts say vehicle traffic in the city is already at a tipping point, while delays, construction and public safety concerns plague the public transit system.

The association is one of 10 organizations in Waterloo Region to share in $13 million worth of funding from the province’s Skills Development Fund.

Joly said Monday the federal government hasn't determined yet exactly how the tariff support fund will be divided.

The station will accommodate more than 10,000 passengers and facilitate over 7,000 transfers during rush hour once complete.

The milestone is the latest step toward providing low-carbon heating to Toronto’s district energy system.
