Experts in green building policy, climate science and architecture increasingly tout the benefits of transforming buildings from a giant source of carbon into a large carbon sink.

The funding is part of the government’s $182.6 million investment provided through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund and the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund.

The terms of the settlement between Crosslinx Transit Solutions and Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario sees various claims resolved, and the project’s opening date targeted for late 2022.

Retrofits of large buildings can reduce building-sector emissions by up to 21.2 million tonnes of CO2e by 2030, says the report. Many projects can be completed with minimal disruption.

The funding commitment will provide seasonal connections to all-season roads in 31 remote and Far North communities and the Town of Moosonee.
