The region’s decision to end its signatory agreement with the Carpenters union as a result of the passage of Bill 66 has led to money savings and more bidders per tender, a new report from Cardus finds.

Statistics Canada’s Labour Force Survey for July shows a gain in employment across all industries of 0.5 percent, and a gain of 1.5 percent, or 21,500 workers, in the construction industry.

The $400-million fund aims to support the construction of pathways, bike lanes, trails and pedestrian bridges, and undertake planning studies.

The latest report from analysts Lodging Econometrics shows Canada’s hotel construction pipeline down 43 projects or 15 percent compared with the second quarter of 2020.

The company was one of two shortlisted by the city for work on nearly nine acres’ worth of property adjacent to the city’s waterfront.
