The above-ground site will house 1.3 million tonnes of contaminated soil and industrial waste, and is a key component of the broader Port Hope Area Initiative to clean up low-level radioactive waste in the municipalities of Port Hope and Clarington.

De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Ltd. says it will begin decommissioning its Toronto facility after it completes aircraft currently under production.

Up to $3,000 will be allocated to each participate to help them develop skills that can be used on the project to twin Highway 17 between Kenora and the Manitoba border.

Once complete, the new Extendicare Stittsville will provide 256 upgraded, modern long-term care beds. The home is expected to start receiving residents in the fall of 2023.

The school is the first in the country to achieve carbon neutrality. The project was designed and built by cleantech integrator Ameresco, which will operate a solar-powered microgrid on the school grounds.
