The national construction market is showing no signs of slowing down. Permit values dropped just 0.5 percent from March’s record total in April, and remain above $11 billion.

The fate of the arena project has teetered back and forth for months. An injection of $18 million from the province means the $25-million project can go ahead at its full scope.

The projects will create a combined 488 affordable rental units across the three communities.

The expansion will see the college increase the capacity of its facilities by as many as 500 students, and add new programs for the skilled trades.

A campaign launched yesterday by the Ontario Construction Consortium calls attention to the significant proportion of construction workers who died from drug overdoses in 2020, and calls for action to help save lives.
