The project to build a new emergency department at the hospital received a major gift from a local construction family, and achieved an important planning milestone in August.

Bird will finance the $32-million transaction mostly through debt with balance coming from Bird treasury shares issued to the seven principal vendor shareholders. The deal closed at midnight on September 1.

Canadian businesses are struggling to find workers with digital skills as the pandemic continues to accelerate technology adoption and automation, a new survey has found. 

The building is scheduled for completion in August 2023, and will serve as the consolidated operations centre for more than 400 employees. It has been designed to achieve LEED Gold certification.
