About half of the funding for the $300−million project will come from governments at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels.

The centre will use the money to fund construction of a 15,500-square foot expansion of its facility, and to upgrade its facilities.

A new plan from Metrolinx and the provincial government changes the proposed route for the eight-kilometre extension, brings the line above grade for its final kilometre, and cuts back the number of stations in an effort to save costs.

The money will go toward 80 projects and will help create 7,510 new beds in long−term care, upgrade 4,197 existing spaces, and reduce waitlists, the government announced Thursday.
