Labour Force Survey data for June released by Statistics Canada earlier this month show a third straight month of job losses in the construction industry, or a drop of 1.6 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis.

The fine is the second this year imposed against R. M. Belanger for its role in site accidents that have led to worker deaths.

National figures dropped 1.9 percent to $19.4 billion for the month. The loss is the first in 2021, with even the residential sector shedding value for the first time since April 2020.

Sixteen smaller projects in Ottawa will share in nearly $4 million in funding, while the Chris Gibson Recreation Centre in Brampton will receive $18 million for expansion work.

Cultural and recreational infrastructure projects in North York and Grimsby will share in $20 million in funding from the provincial and federal governments.
