Data from Statistics Canada’s Labour Force Survey (LFS) for April shows that sectoral employment rose for the third consecutive month. The industry added 30,700 workers (+2%) for the month, although employment remains about 21,000 workers below pre-pandemic levels recorded in April 2019.

Shortlisted are 12 companies, all of which involve Canadian firms in at least some capacity, and some with partners from as far away as Switzerland and Australia. They have been invited to re-imagine a city block in downtown Ottawa that faces the Parliament Buildings.

The three teams shortlisted to bid on the work have been given an RFP document from which to work. IO and Grandview Kids aim to announce the project proponent next spring.

Ontario's fiscal watchdog says the province will not meet its goal of creating 15,000 new long-term care beds by 2024.

The Ontario government announced on May 25 that it has awarded a contract worth more than $757 million to a P3 team led by Strabag to design, build and finance the project to build the 7.8-kilometre Scarborough subway extension.
