A permit for $6 million issued to Brantford Power helped propel construction values higher in August 2020, and kept the city on trend to out-perform construction levels compared with last year.

The $23-million, two-storey addition will add 40,000 square feet, as well as a new auditorium and the country’s first Esports arena. St. Clair college revealed the facility design when construction started on September 16.

The first phase of the 72-acre development calls for two mixed-use buildings. The community as a whole will feature nearly 3,000 residential units, including 150 affordable housing units.

A 52-story mixed-used tower will be erected on the site of the former MacLean-Hunter building on University Avenue in downtown Toronto.

The money is payable in the form of a mortgage to the City of Ottawa, and will be used to fund construction of nearly 700 residential units just west of the downtown core.
