Non-residential investment was mostly unchanged in November, remaining at $4.4 billion. Investment in residential construction, meanwhile, edged down 0.1 percent.

The Canada Infrastructure Bank has lent its support to the development of a 250 megawatt/1,000 megawatt-hour energy storage facility near London—the largest project of its kind in the country. The bank will make an official investment decision this spring.

The Ontario government announced further financial support for municipalities—in the form of money from the Gas Tax fund—on January 14. The funding is to be used to support public transit systems.

‘The health, safety and well-being of our workers and the communities in which we operate has always been the top priority of the more than 20,000 member firms of CCA,’ says a statement issued by the association on January 13.

Tory says that if the higher levels of government don’t come through with renewed funding Toronto will have to cut up to $860 million of capital spending.
