Extendicare Port Stanley will add 68 new and 60 redeveloped long-term care beds to the community and is expected to open in early 2027.

The agency — and Verster specifically — have come under frequent fire for the long-delayed Eglinton Crosstown project, which was supposed to open in 2020.

Ontario will get to a net-zero grid by 2050 without the federal regulations, the IESO says, with new nuclear and renewable resources expected to come into service in the 2040s.

In Sarnia, the Trillium Villa Nursing Home will feature 160 beds, while Extendicare St. Catharines’ will include 256.

This round of funding is worth more than $74 million and is available to build, expand and retrofit training facilities for workers in the trades.
