Construction costs for major subway projects in the Greater Toronto Area have more than doubled since the beginning of the 2000s.

The city has promoted long-time employees Brett Forestell and Kevin Kehoe to the roles of chief building official and deputy chief building official, respectively.

‘Given the lifespan of buildings, it is critical that design for low carbon operations occur today at scale since retrofitting buildings before 2050 will be costly and difficult to achieve.’

The CEO of Infrastructure Ontario was originally scheduled to leave his post at the end of April.

The 14 panel members comprise representatives from labour and management groups, and will meet with the Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development three times a year.
