Building permit values reached just $25.1 million for the month. That’s down from the $45.3 million recorded in December 2020 and the $37.8 million recorded in January 2020.

A funding boost of $34.5 million from the federal government should help the soon-to-be-constructed Ottawa Public Library–Library and Archives Canada joint facility reach net-zero carbon.

The province called on Ottawa to provide the funding on Tuesday, over a year after it cancelled the project because its costs had escalated to $5.5 billion.

The funding will be used to expand the airport’s runway and increase the number of lots in its business park.

Premier Doug Ford said Monday that a state of emergency will be allowed to expire as scheduled on Tuesday, but most regions will remain under a stay−at−home order until they transition back to the province’s colour−coded restrictions system.
