Seven projects—including a rehabilitation to a small community airport—will share in more than $18 million in infrastructure funding.

The government of Ontario has finally set aside funding to expand Highway 7 between Kitchener and Guelph, several area MPPs announced on July 15.

A variety of projects in communities such as Pembroke, Georgian Bay and Markstay-Warren will share in $28 million in funding for road and bridge projects.

Although much of the money will be spent on upgrading the city’s rolling stock, several million dollars have also been allocated to construction of various facilities and roadworks.

The rolling, six-month average of housing starts in the country rose to just below 200,000 units in June, while the number of starts for the month increased by 8 percent.
