These challenges arise primarily from the involvement of multiple employers being present at any given construction project with overlapping responsibilities relating to occupational health and safety.
Hamilton contractor fined $200K in worker’s death
The incident is the second offence levied against the company. In 2013, it was fined $170,000 for its role in an accident that led to the death of a young worker.
Ontario ramping up rapid testing in schools, LTC and some workplaces in coming weeks
The government said it has also provided 170,000 rapid tests to 30 industry sites like Ontario Power Generation, construction firm Ellis Don and manufacturer Bombardier Aviation. The weekly demand for tests in essential workplaces is anticipated to be 300,000.
Crosslinx moves to mandatory on-site COVID testing
The news comes as several sites in the GTA are being stricken by COVID-19. The Eglinton LRT project saw 28 COVID cases on eight sites in January, while The Well and the Michael Garron hospital sites—both run by Crosslinx consortium member EllisDon—saw their own post-holiday outbreaks.
