Parkview Public School plans approved
Plans for construction of a new elementary school in the Forest Glade neighbourhood of Windsor have been approved.
Trustees from the Greater Essex County District School Board voted in favour of the layout and design for the new Parkview Public School on December 10. With the design approved, budget secured and site finalized, all that is left to do is the construction itself.
The project has not yet been awarded to a general contractor, but WalterFedy has been selected as the project architect. The building itself, which will be located on the site of the existing Parkview Public School on Stillmeadow Road, will span about 52,000 square feet and two storeys. The building will be fully accessible with room for more than 500 students, and an attached daycare.
The project budget is currently estimated at $13.2 million. Construction is expected to begin this spring, and take between 12 and 14 months.
"2021 is the anticipated date for opening, hopefully September if all goes to plan," school board chair Ron LeClair told the Windsor Star. "We always like to try and open schools in September if we can but we're looking forward to this build."
