BNA explains procurement methods for Gordie Howe bridge project
Bridging North America, the consortium that is leading the construction of the Gordie Howe International Bridge project, released details about its procurement processes and available construction opportunities at two vendor summits last week.
The organization, which is a joint venture among Dragados, Fluor and Aecon, indicated that preferred construction partners and suppliers will be chosen from among companies that are leaders in their respective fields, and which have exceptional safety records. The consortium will require large volumes of materials and services in key areas such as administration, architecture, civil, construction indirects, electrical, instrumentation, logistics, process equipment and structural expertise.
Companies that wish to get involved with the procurement process must first register on the project website, and provide information such as safety records, certificates of insurance, and insurance and bonding capacity. From there, they can request packages for the various open procurement opportunities, and must complete non-disclosure agreements.
At present, current bridge work packages on the Canadian side include: assembly and storage equipment, bridge expansion joints, bridge bearings, and lock-up devices. Port of entry procurement packages are available for building frame structural steel, building façade, and roofing systems.
Additional packages are available for work on the United States side of the project, and include bridge work, work on the port of entry, and work on the Michigan interchange.
Interested suppliers can visit the project website for up-to-date work packages, or join the Canadian and American procurement database by emailing procurement@bnacagp.com and procurement@bnausjv.com respectively.
