Windsor building permits up $8 million in March
Construction permit values in the City of Windsor jumped in March.
Permit activity reached $27.6 million for the month—up by nearly $8 million compared to the month previous. The total was, however, down significantly from March 2019 when the city issued more than $39 million worth of building permits.
The city issued permits for 263 projects in March. Of that total, 212 were issued in the residential sector, 38 in the commercial sector, eight for industrial buildings, and five in the government and institutional sector.
The value of residential-sector permits issued for the month exceeded $21 million. The Next highest performer was the commercial sector at just over $4 million. The industrial and institutional sectors recorded $1.2 million and $720,000 worth of activity.
Windsor issued two permits worth more than $1 million in March. One, for $1.08 million, was to erect the above-grade portion of a medical building at 2950 Metcalfe Street. The other, worth exactly $1 million, was for interior renovations to the Best Western Hotel building on Riverside Drive West.
The March gain brought the city’s year-to-date permit activity up over $85 million—an increase of more than $11 million compared to the same point a year ago.
