Breaking news: CCA cancels annual conference
Concerns over the further spread of coronavirus have forced the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) to cancel its annual convention and business meetings later this month.
Originally scheduled for March 12–18, the national association’s annual event attracts thousands of delegates from across the country. This year’s event, however, will not go ahead.
The association notified delegates of its decision late Sunday night. An email from CCA Chair John Bockstael explained that the decision was taken with the interest of public safety foremost in mind.
“This afternoon, the CCA Board of Directors made the decision to cancel the San Diego conference and business meetings. The vote was overwhelmingly in favour of cancelling the events, with the overriding objective to protect you - our delegates, staff and the association from risks associated with the coronavirus. This was not an easy decision and we are all disappointed that we will not be able to get together and celebrate the industry as usual this year.”
