IO opens real property services RFQ
Infrastructure Ontario (IO) has issued a request for qualifications for a private-sector company to take over its property and land-management contract.
The provincial Crown agency announced the launch of the open competition on October 18. IO says it is looking for a company to handle the delivery of day-to-day property management, asset renewal works, capital planning, smart building technology, energy and environmental management, strategic sourcing and vendor management as well as lease administration.
Its current property and land-management contract, which is signed with CBRE, has been in place since 2009. The agreement expires in 2024.
The RFQ closes in November, with a shortlist of companies expected to be released in December. IO expects to award the final contract in the winter of 2023, with service under the new agreement beginning in spring of 2024.
IO currently manages more than 4,400 buildings on behalf of the provincial government, accommodating approximately 60,000 Ontario Public Service employees in 350 communities. The portfolio consists of office buildings and space and special-purpose facilities such as courthouses, detentions centres, OPP detachments and laboratories. IO also directly manages 194,000 acres of land, including hydro corridors and land banks.
