Inquiries opened into three construction deaths
The Solicitor General’s office has opened inquests into the deaths of three construction workers.
Michael Picanco, 35, died on July 25, 2014, from injuries sustained while working at a construction site in Toronto.
The inquest will start on October 25. It is expected to last three days and will hear from two witnesses.
Dr. David Eden will preside as inquest officer. Jai Dhar will be the inquest counsel.
Barry Robertson, 31, died in hospital on March 26, 2012, from injuries sustained while working at a roadside construction site in Ottawa.
That inquest begins on October 6, and is also is expected to last three days. It will hear from approximately 10 witnesses, and Dr. Bob Reddoch will preside as inquest officer and David Rodgers will be the inquest counsel.
Finally, the province has scheduled an inquest to into the 20-year old death of a construction worker.
Jesus Revilla Sanchez, who was 38, died in hospital on December 5, 1996, from injuries sustained while working at a construction site in Perth. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding his death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.
The inquest will start on October 18, and is expected to last two days. It will hear from two witnesses.
