Province opens two LTC homes
The Ontario Government’s plan to deliver more long-term care homes is bearing fruit.
The province announced the grand opening of two homes—in Arnprior and in Brampton—that were built under its Long-Term Care Modernization Plan.
In Brampton on September 23, Long-term Care Minister Rod Phillips and Brampton West MPP Amarjot Sandhu marked the opening of Faith Manor, a new 160-bed long-term care building.
The home received its first residents in July, and provides 40 new and 120 upgraded long-term care beds. The building also features specific design improvements, including semi-private and private rooms, no ward rooms and air conditioning throughout.
Philips was in Arnprior, west of Ottawa, the following day, alongside Renfrew–Nipissing–Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski to open The Grove Nursing Home.
The facility is expected to accept its first residents in the coming weeks and will provide 36 new and 60 upgraded beds. Like Faith Manor in Brampton, The Grove home has specific design improvements, including semi-private and private rooms, no ward rooms, larger common areas and air conditioning throughout.
The Grove is located on the same grounds as the Arnprior Regional Hospital and will be part of a campus of care for residents.
The province has committed to an investment of $2.68 billion in long-term care development. That figure includes an investment of $933 million in 80 new long-term care projects that was announced in past March.
Ontario now has 20,161 new and 15,918 redevelopment spaces in the development pipeline.
