Amico-led consortium wins Grandview Kids redevelopment contract
Infrastructure Ontario and Grandview Kids have awarded a fixed-price contract worth $85.3 million to the Children First Consortium to design, build and finance the Grandview Children’s Centre Redevelopment project.
The consortium is jointly led by Windsor’s Amico Design Build Inc. and Sacyr Construction S.A from Italy. Also involved are designers Parkin Architects and H.H. Angus and Associates Limited, as well as Stonebridge Financial Corporation.
The new Grandview Kids headquarters will consolidate the hospital’s existing main site in Oshawa with several satellite locations on more than five acres of land in Ajax. The new facility aims to be a centre of excellence in children’s services that will include therapy services; a pre-school outreach program; developmental paediatric medical services, family/caregiver resources and support; and the Campbell Children's School.
Once the work is completed, Grandview Kids will maintain three satellite locations in Clarington, Port Perry and Oshawa and its partnership with the Whitby Abilities Centre to reduce extensive travel times for some clients and caregivers.
Design work on the project will begin in April 2022. Children First Consortium expects to mobilize on site in May 2022, with construction to begin in September 2022.
The project is expected to be completed in spring 2024.
