Preferred proponent selected for South Niagara Hospital Project
Infrastructure Ontario has announced that it has selected EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare (EDIH) as its preferred proponent to design, build, finance and maintain the new South Niagara Hospital project.
The EDIH team includes EllisDon Capital Inc. & Plenary Americas LP as lead applicants, with construction work by EllisDon and design support from Parkin Architects Ltd. & Adamson Associates Architects.
Infrastructure Ontario and Niagara Health will now work to finalize contract details with EDIH. The project is expected to reach financial close in early 2023, with the contract costs announced and construction to start shortly thereafter.
The new South Niagara Hospital will be an integral part of Niagara Health’s connected healthcare system. The facility will be located at the intersection of Biggar Road and Montrose Road in Niagara Falls, just off the Queen Elizabeth Way.
The project will centralize services from existing facilities, making it easier for residents to access the care they need at one location, provide an overall better experience, and enable communities to be healthier. Niagara Health’s new site is being planned with a seniors’ focus embedded into all aspects of the patient experience.
The hospital will be designed and built to meet the Canada Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standards.
The project is also working toward being the first WELL-certified healthcare facility in Canada focused on the health and well-being of staff, physicians, volunteers, patients, families and caregivers and the Niagara community.
Infrastructure Ontario’s latest P3 Market Update document values the South Niagara Hospital project at less than $1 billion.
