Colliers hired as project managers on Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent facility
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is moving quickly with plan to build its new local children’s treatment centre.
The provincial government announced funding for the facility on February 3.
“Our government is delivering on our commitment to build important infrastructure projects that support modern, accessible, and centralized services for children with special needs,” said Children, Community and Social Services Minister Dr. Merrilee Fullerton. “The Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent will be a state-of-the-art facility that supports families and children through an integrated model of centralized services.”
Meanwhile, on February 16, Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent announced that it has hired Colliers Project Leaders to act as managers on the project.
“Our goal is to advance our progress in building a new children’s treatment centre for the children and families of Chatham-Kent. To ensure this project continues to move forward, it is important that we have a strong team of individuals working with us,” said Donna Litwin-Makey, executive director of the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent. “Adding a project manager to our team enables us to have a strong project plan in place and fulfill our commitment to the community.”
The 55,000-square foot building will connect children and their families with wraparound supports and provide additional space needed to reduce wait times for rehabilitation services such as speech therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and autism services.
Once completed, the building will bring together a team of professionals under one roof to provide a range of specialized services and supports, including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech-language pathology, autism services and more.
The Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent currently provides services to more than 3,500 children and youth with special needs.
As part of the government’s recent $240 million investment over four years in early intervention and rehabilitation services, the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent will receive $842,525 this year to support programming.
Funding for construction of the building was included in the province’s 2021 budget.
