EllisDon P3 team chosen for GO Expansion work at Lakeshore West
An EllisDon-led consortium has been chosen to design, build and finance the $443-million GO Expansion – Lakeshore West Infrastructure Improvements project.
Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx announced the contract award on March 1.
The work sees the P3 team perform infrastructure upgrades, such as in-corridor enabling works, station improvements at the Long Branch GO Station, and underpass works at Burloak Drive to accommodate increased capacity on the Lakeshore West line as part of the planned expansion of GO Transit rail service.
The work is part of the broader GO Rail Expansion that will transform the transportation network in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area over the next decade.
Metrolinx aims to create a system that will deliver two-way, all-day service every 15 minutes over core segments of the GO Rail network. System-wide infrastructure upgrades will include: adding tracks, expanding stations, electrification of the rail network, new locomotives and train control systems to enable more frequent service.
The EllisDon Infrastructure Transit P3 team also includes designers Wood Canada Limited and Stantec Consulting Ltd., architects Stantec and Strasman Architects, Stephenson Engineering Ltd., and Thurber Engineering Ltd.
Onsite mobilization and pre-construction work will begin in spring 2022 with construction to begin in the fall. The consortium estimates up to 200 jobs will be created during construction.
