Newmarket awards Mulock Park contract to Matheson Constructors
The Town of Newmarket is pushing forward with construction of a $64-million park.
The town announced last week that it has awarded the contract for construction of the Mulock Park to Aurora general contractors Matheson Constructors Ltd.
The project, which is located at the corner of Mulock Drive and Yonge Street, will see the creation of a 16-acre green community gathering space. Key elements include a skating trail, water features, natural discovery playscape, greenhouse conservatory, and artist studio with public art woven throughout the landscape.
The project master plan was developed by PLANT Architect Inc.
Construction will start before the end of the year, and is targeted for completion in 2025. Park opening is projected for 2026.
"We are on the road to building something truly amazing for our community," said Newmarket Mayor John Taylor. "Council is excited to see Mulock Park come to life and we are confident this substantive investment will be greatly valued by our current residents and future generations."
The project is the town's most significant capital project and will become one of Newmarket's largest parks and public gathering spaces.
