Toronto bundles sewer, sidewalk and streetcar work on Broadview Avenue
The City of Toronto has kicked off a five-month construction project on Broadview Avenue between Gerrard Street East and Danforth Avenue to replace TTC streetcar tracks.
The-$6.5 million project, which is being coordinated with the TTC, bundles several construction needs into one project to save time and money.
The city is replacing the TTC tracks to reduce the current track noise and bring them into a state of good repair. It is also resurfacing the road and repairing damaged sidewalks and curbs on Broadview Avenue and Montcrest Boulevard.
Crews are also working in the area to extend the life of sewers, avoiding the need for extensive excavation. The sewer work will be done in phases and completed by early 2024.
“This is another example of the major infrastructure work we are doing as quickly as possible to minimize disruption and as fiscally responsible as possible to maximize investments in multiple projects,” said Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie.
