Peel police starts construction on new operational support facility
Peel Regional Police has broken ground on construction of a new operational support facility.
Set to be completed in 2027, the facility will be home to over 700 Peel Regional Police employees. The building will be located at 8100 Mississauga Road in Brampton.
With Peel among the fastest growing communities in the country, the police force says a new operational support facility will be, “vital in accommodating current and future growth in order to address the public safety needs” of the community. The building will also adopt areas previously housed in Sir Robert Peel Centre, including the force’s 911 communications centre. The new area will be equipped to improve response to critical incidents and needs.
Peel Region is predicted to add 350,000 residents in the next 10 years.
“We are excited to announce this landmark investment to maintain public safety across our growing region," said Chief Nishan Duraiappah. "This facility will help address current and future service pressures and meet the needs of our community."
The 250,000-square-foot building will be designed using sustainable materials consistent with the Region of Peel’s net zero carbon commitment. Early works are expected to start in November, with full construction beginning early next year.
