Axium announces plans to build Brampton facility
Axium Packaging announced last month that it intends to expand its operations in Brampton.
Construction is underway on the company’s newest new manufacturing facility in the city, at a cost of $80 million.
The new site, which is anticipated to open July 2024, adds to the firm’s base of 20 manufacturing plants across Canada, the United States and Mexico.
Axium Packaging provides design engineering and tool building solutions for companies’ packaging needs, including plastic containers, tubes, caps and decorating services.
In line with Brampton’s climate goals, Axium says it is focused on sustainability and engineering facilities for the future. The new building is intended to be LEED Silver compliant.
“We are building on incredible momentum here in Brampton and this win solidifies that,” said Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown. “This new facility will add to the city’s sector network, providing new and sustainable plastic solutions. As Axium continues to grow its footprint in North America, we are excited and proud that their expansion plans include Brampton.”
The advanced manufacturing sector is the largest industry by employment in Brampton, accounting for almost a quarter of its workforce. When the new project is complete, Axium expects to employ 250 people at the facility.
