IO, Lakeridge Health issue RFQ for Bowmanville Hospital project
Infrastructure Ontario and Lakeridge Health have issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to design, build and finance the Bowmanville Hospital Redevelopment project.
The expansion to the Bowmanville Hospital will be almost double the size of the current hospital, enabling increased health care capacity in Durham Region.
It will expand critical care services and introduce modern, patient-centred facilities including private rooms and bariatric rooms, ambulatory care clinics and a haemodialysis centre. The project will also feature a new parking garage.
"We’re delighted to reach this pivotal milestone in the Bowmanville Hospital redevelopment project,” said Cordelia Clarke Julie, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Lakeridge Health. “Issuing the RFQ brings us one step closer to providing enhanced, specialized, and accessible health-care services that will meet the evolving needs of the growing Durham Region community. This progress reflects our unwavering commitment to transforming health-care delivery and ensuring the well-being of our residents."
The RFQ is the first step in the process to select a team to deliver the project.
Shortlisted teams will then be invited to respond to a request for proposals, which is expected to be released in early 2025.
Earlier this year, Lakeridge Health announced it has selected Stantec to lead the planning, design, and conformance aspects of the Bowmanville Hospital redevelopment.
