EllisDon, PCL to lead Ottawa Hospital Campus project
EllisDon and PCL have been chosen to lead construction of the new Ottawa Hospital Campus.
Infrastructure Ontario and The Ottawa Hospital announced on February 20 that they have signed a development phase agreement with the companies, which are operating under The Ottawa Hospital Build Partners umbrella, following a request for proposals process that began in November 2022.
Also involved in the partnership are designers Parkin Architects Ltd and Adamson Associates Architects.
The Ottawa Hospital Build Partners will now work collaboratively with IO and The Ottawa Hospital under the development phase agreement, as well as with the Ministry of Health, to continue to advance the design and confirm fixed pricing.
Once the development phase is complete, the partners are expected to enter into a fixed-price project agreement with The Ottawa Hospital to design, build, finance, and maintain the new campus redevelopment project.
The project itself calls for the construction of a new TOH Civic campus in Ottawa. The facility is projected to be one of the largest and most modern teaching hospitals in Canada.
The new hospital will enable TOH to provide highly specialized emergency and trauma services to treat complex injuries and illness for patients from Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec and Nunavut.
The new facility is expected to open in 2028.
The most recent Market Update from IO values the project at between $2 billion and $4 billion.
