Toronto starts work on King Street West watermain and TTC track replacement projects
The City of Toronto starts work on a significant downtown infrastructure project this week.
The city announced on February 16 that work would soon start on replace a 146-year-old watermain on King Street West and aging TTC streetcar tracks between Dufferin and Shaw Streets.
It says the work is critical for maintaining public transit infrastructure and water services for residents in the area. Construction work will be completed over 10 months and is bundled into one project to save time and money and limit disruption.
TTC track replacement work is anticipated to start in May and will be completed in phases, culminating in December.
Phase 1 focuses on the watermain replacement and runs between February and the end of July. The scope of work will include watermain replacement work on King Street between Dufferin Street and Shaw Street.
Phases 2 to 5 focus on the TTC streetcar track replacement, and run between May and December.
