WSIB now accepting applications for Small Business Health and Safety Leadership Awards
The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) is now accepting applications for its 2024 Small Business Health and Safety Leadership Awards.
Independently owned and operated businesses with fewer than 50 employees that enter can win up to $10,000 by explaining how they’ve made their workplace safer over the past year.
The top three businesses will receive prizes of up to $10,000.
“We know there are a lot of great success stories out there about small businesses that have raised the bar when it comes to workplace health and safety,” said Rod Cook, Vice President of Workplace Health and Safety Services at the WSIB. “We want to hear them and we want to share them to inspire others! Share your story with us and you could win one of three cash prizes.”
The awards recognize the health and safety achievements of small businesses in Ontario.
Judging criteria includes performance in safety culture and leadership, implementation of safety programs or initiatives, communications, and employee involvement in health and safety.
To apply, companies must be registered with the WSIB and have accounts in good standing. The must also not have had any fatalities in their workplaces, nor any convictions by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.
Submissions are open until June 30, and complete information is available on the WSIB website.
Last year, 197 businesses applied.
