Province commits $16M to repairs and upgrades at Brantford General Hospital
The Ontario government has announced an investment of nearly $16 million to fund upgrades and repairs at Brantford General Hospital.
“Our government continues to make record investments in Ontario’s hospitals to ensure people across the province can access world-class care where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This investment will enable Brant Community Healthcare System to address priority infrastructure needs so patients and their families can continue to access vital services and care in their community.”
Of the funding, the province is providing $9 million to support repairs to Brantford General Hospital’s damaged utility services tunnel. The funding will be used to reroute key utility services out of the tunnel.
The government is also investing $6.3 million to help the hospital replace and upgrade three failed boilers.
This new funding is in addition to the $7.3 million the government has provided to Brant Community Healthcare system’s boiler replacement project.
Brant Community Healthcare System is the primary acute care facility serving Brantford, the County of Brant, Six Nations of the Grand River, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and surrounding communities.
In 2022, Ontario invested $2.5 million to support the redevelopment of Brantford General Hospital and Willett Hospital. This funding supported planning to upgrade and expand both sites, increasing the total number of beds and health care services for patients in Brant, Brantford and the surrounding communities as they continue to grow.
The province is investing more than $228 million this year to support critical infrastructure upgrades and repairs at 129 hospitals and 58 community health care facilities across the Ontario. That figure represents a 10 percent increase over last year.
