LiUNA endorses Ford for re-election
One of the province’s largest construction unions has officially endorsed Premier Doug Ford in his bid for re-election.
LiUNA, which represents more than 120,000 workers in Ontario, has given its official endorsement to Ford and the Ontario PCs.
“LiUNA members show up day in and day out to build Ontario. They are the men and women who have boots on the ground to build, maintain and strengthen our roads and transit, hospitals and housing, energy and public infrastructure. In return, they expect a government who shows up for them. That government is the Doug Ford government,” said Joseph Mancinelli, LiUNA International Vice President and Canadian Director.
To date, Ford’s governments have invested over $60 million in LiUNA and their local chapters to boost skilled trades training across the province.
This includes building a new training centre in Vaughan to double its current capacity, helping almost 100,000 people gain the skills and training they need to find good-paying jobs in construction.
In addition, the union’s workers are involved in countless numbers of the more than $200 billion worth of publicly funded construction activity that underway across the province.
“I am honoured to have the support of the women and men who belong to LiUNA in Ontario,” said Ford. “LiUNA members are the backbone of our province. They build critical infrastructure, including our roads, highways and homes, as well as helping Ontario expand clean, reliable nuclear energy infrastructure. We will never stop protecting Ontario workers as we navigate these uncertain times. That means investing in training, building our workforce and making sure Ontario remains a place where businesses can grow and thrive.”
