RFP issued for North York General tower project
Infrastructure Ontario and North York General (NYG) have issued a request for proposals for the hospital’s new patient care tower redevelopment project.
The tower will include patient care spaces and underground parking connecting to NYG’s existing building to enable flow of patients, staff, and materials, ensuring a high level of integration between new and existing spaces.
The new tower will include up to 317 private patient rooms, expanding the hospital’s acute-care capacity by as many as 100 net-new beds, in addition to expanded spaces for critical programs and services.
Four teams were prequalified through a request for qualification process that began in January 2025. The prequalified teams invited to respond to the RFP are:
- Building Beyond Alliance
Applicant leads and constructors Bird Design-Build Construction Inc. & Graham Design Builders LP in conjunction with Designers HDR Architecture Associates, Inc.

- North York Healthcare Alliance

The teams will prepare proposals that detail how they will deliver the project.
