Participation by women in construction is down from 2018 peak
A year-to-date review of the monthly Statistics Canada Labour Force Survey (LFS) shows that the representation of women in the construction labour force is in decline, not only as a percentage of the overall workforce, but in real terms as well.

Labour Minister Monte McNaughton announced the province will boost spending on the Pre-Apprenticeship Training program by $2.5 million on November 8.
Building permit values drop in September
Statistics Canada released its monthly report on the value of building permits issued across the country on Friday. The agency reports that Canadian municipalities issued $8.3 billion worth of permits in September, a drop of 6.5 percent compared to August. The largest declines were reported in the residential sector.
