The Town of Saugeen Shores has officially kicked off construction of its Innovation Park, an area set up to attract clean energy businesses by capitalizing on the area’s existing knowledge base.

In March, the construction labour force grew by 85,800 workers from a year previous. The labour force grew in almost every province but for Saskatchewan, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

If the current strike by thousands of public sector workers is successful, it could have a domino effect for unionized workers in other industries, labour experts said.

Initial feasibility reports have been developed for several facilities that include hospitals, universities and large commercial redevelopments across Ontario.

Of the 67 determinations rendered during the 2022 fiscal year, 75% were rendered within the 30-day timeline prescribed by the Construction Act.
